In the heart of the Laurentians, in Sainte Agathe des Monts, between Saint-Sauveur and Mont-Tremblant, the hotel combines the charm of an inn with the services of a hotel.
Hôtel Spa Watel was named in memory of a French personality by the name of “Paul Watel”, who stayed in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts for 6 months, and in Paris for the other 6 months. He married Fleurange Nantel and thus became Athanase David’s brother-in-law. Athanase David was a member of the provincial legislature for nearly twenty-five years, and was later appointed to the Senate in Ottawa. He was also deeply involved in cultural and social affairs.
In its early days, in 1989, it was known as Auberge Watel. At that time, the Streiker family’s single-family home was acquired to build the inn.
